Bone Health & HIV Health Educator Training Course

This training course consists of a Pre-Exam to assess current knowledge level of bone health-related topics, self-paced training modules, reading materials (see the materials list in each lesson or topic), quizzes to help you understand and learn the material, and a Final Exam.

Requirements:

  • Complete the Pre-Exam
  • Complete all training modules, including associated quizzes
  • Complete the Final Exam and earn a score of at least 80%

Completion:

  • Course is not considered complete until you earn a score of at least 80% on the Final Exam.
  • Access to the course expires 6 weeks after registration

After you have completed the course:

  • Please share what you have learned with clients living with HIV to help them understand how to protect their bones from fractures.
  • If you are a case manager in the Tampa Bay Area, complete your course and score 80% or higher on the Final Exam, Suncoast Health Council will send you up to five (5) LOVE YOUR BONES Toolkits (while supplies last) for you to distribute to your clients living with HIV.  Your account must include your mailing address to qualify for receiving toolkits.

The Bone Health & HIV for Health Educator Training Course was originally developed by American Bone Health, now under the umbrella of BHOF, and funded in part by Suncoast Health Council & the Florida Department of Health. 

Target Audience

This continuing education activity is intended for use by health professionals who participate in the care of patients at risk for or suffering from HIV, in the areas of primary care, endocrinology, geriatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, obstetrics, orthopedics, osteopathy, pediatrics, physiatry, radiology, rheumatology and physical therapy.

This includes case managers, physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, technologists, researchers, public health professionals and health educators with an interest in osteoporosis and bone health.

Method of Participation in the Learning Process: Clinician learners will view and analyze the subject matter, conduct additional informal research through related internet searches on the subject matter, and complete a post-test assessment of knowledge and skills gained as a result of the activity.
